PBX Review - By: Tim
03/04/10Pros:
I was able to keep my phone number when I moved area codes. The phones had a ton of features, most of which I didn't use.
Cons:
Price. I was told I'd pay one price and the bill has always been higher. I have horrible service from customer service and I constantly drop calls. On top of that when I call people the fourth ring sounds all weird and they can't fix it.
Other Thoughts:
I am glad to be done with Packet8. I recently got a flier from a local company in Phoenix called comvoice (sp?). They just installed Cisco phones on my desks and i got my first bill...it was actually less than they said AND less than my Packet8 bill. On top of that my service issues are GONE! Packet8 always blamed my ISP but the new company says my internet is just fine it was the old technology Packet8 used that caused my problems. If anyone else wants to check these guys out do so...I'm happy so far. www.comvoice.com

02/14/10Pros:
Quality of calls and features are good
Cons:
Hidden fees, cannot give me an understandable invoice. Keep adding charges to my credit card that they cannot explain. Increased prices from $39 to $44, when everyone else was decreasing prices (then offer lower price when threaten to quit)
Other Thoughts:
I'm looking for an alternative.

12/21/09Pros:
Inexpensive and easy to set up, our company is virtual, so we like the features of a VOIP.
Cons:
dropping calls constantly, bad reception
Other Thoughts:
I am looking to use another provider. Have been with them 9 months.

07/02/09Pros:
The only pro I can give you is that Rudy in tech support is available and would love to be able to help, although many times he cannot and if forced to give the company line.
Cons:
Packet 8 is my worst nightmare. If phones are a critical part of your business, avoid them at all costs.
Other Thoughts:
Packet 8 is possibly the worst vendor relationship I have had in the 35+ years I have been running companies. If you want your intelligence insulted, your other vendors blamed when they are not at fault, and your customers and clients mad at you because you cannot hear them, or you drop their call, Packet 8 is the one for you. If not... Orange juice cans and a string are a better solution.

03/31/09Pros:
My experience with packet 8 was good at first continued to degrade to the point of being completely unacceptable. I'd avoid this company at all costs!
Cons:
The poor sound quality was only one of the main problems I encountered with packet 8, On a number of times friends left me Voice Mails which I never received. this happened all the time

None listed.
Cons:
Too many to list
Other Thoughts:
I have had Packet 8 since SunRocket ceased operation last year. I wish I had never heard of Packet 8. Their initial enticement was a fee similar to SunRocket, a flat fee for one year. What a joke that was. My phone bill has tripled with all the hidden fees that they bill me for each month.
The service just plain SUCKS. Calls are dropped especially if you talk for extended periods of time. Approximately 35% of the time I have the privilege of listening to myself (echo). Received voice quality sucks 80% of the time; it’s so garbled it’s impossible to understand the other party. Many times outbound calls don’t go through the first time so redialing is necessary. Their Web site stinks (must have been created as a kindergarten project).
Their customer service reps must either be either illegal aliens or do not live in the US (hopefully). It is next to impossible to speak to anyone that can understand even the most rudimentary English; of course the folks they have soliciting your business and signing you up speak it quite well.
I recently received an email informing me that they are going to add another Texas tax to my account that amounts to an additional 9% per month. I have news for them; I’m switching providers this week. I’m also going to contact the Texas Secretary of State to let him know that Packet 8 is charging this tax and other fees. My guess is that all the fees they are charging only go into Packet 8’s bank account.
Too bad SunRocket didn’t make it; they were excellent in all respects. I should have gone back to Verizon instead of signing on with this bunch. I may have to pay a little more but at least I can understand what is being said by who ever is on the other end. Stay away from this bunch; if you join them hang on to your wallet.
