These people bought a competitor, Aptela, in the summer of 2011 and promptly fired all of the sales and many other key people. Many of them, including my rep, were with them for many years and were quality people, and to my understanding, top performers, helping get that company to profitability, making it worth buying, and took care of many happy customers. Why fire people cruelly when many are probably more experienced than your own home crew and could probably out-sell most. This soured me a great deal on Vocalocity (plus I had left them a while before due to repeated outages). It was not only mean, but stupid, given how hard it is to get good people. Vocalocity's reps seem young and not nearly as experienced. Now Aptela's service is pretty much stagnant, while new clients are being handled by Vocalocity. Be careful with VoIP companies. They go out of business without warning, get bought unexpectedly, and often don't have the resources to keep up with all their software integrations, in my experience. Or they move to new software and old clients get left on the old system. Its a crappy world when good people bust their butts to build a company and it gets bought and they are thrown away like garbage without even a chance to prove their quality. Who wants a company like this? I found out on LinkedIn from my old rep that they did not even get vacation owed, and commissions were docked, and they did not provide any kind of time-based severance. Sickening. No heart. Why give them money?
